K2M Group Holdings Inc. recently announced the U.S. commercial launch of the EVEREST Deformity Spinal System at the Scoliosis Research Society 50th Annual Meeting in Minneapolis.

The system has implant technology with several attributes that allow for more efficient intraoperative use of the system. The EVEREST Deformity includes a top-loading pedicle screw in a variety of screw types and can accommodate titanium and cobalt chrome rods in two different diameters, according to company representatives.

The system also features polyaxial and uniplanar screws that include a dual-lead thread pattern for faster insertion and increased pullout strength. Additionally, the system’s Basecamp Deformity Rod Reducer provides multiple options during surgery to help address correction maneuvers for complex spinal pathologies. The rod reducer provides 60 mm of quick or controlled rod reduction and replaces the need for reduction screws, according to information in the company release.
