FDA grants clearance to Ceterix for meniscal repair system
Ceterix Orthopedics has received 510(k) clearance from the FDA for its NovoStitch Plus meniscal repair system.
According to a company press release, the meniscal repair system allows for placement of a circumferential compression stitch around the meniscus to generate uniform compression during healing and allow orthopedic surgeons to treat complex injuries. The device also uses a pre-loaded suture implant to improve ease of use and reduce the number of procedure steps by more than half.
“We believe the usability improvements in this new device will enable surgeons to provide meniscus repair to an even broader set of patients who need better solutions for this common knee injury,” John McCutcheon, president and CEO of Ceterix Orthopaedics, stated in the release.
