Spinal Elements receives expanded indications for LOTUS spine system
Spinal Elements recently announced it received FDA clearance to market its LOTUS Posterior Cervical/Thoracic Spinal System with expanded indications for posterior cervical screw placement.
The LOTUS Posterior Cervical/Thoracic Spinal System has received new clearance for the placement of screws in the cervical spine. Previous clearance had only allowed for screw placement only in the thoracic (T1-3) spine.
According to a company press release, the system provides immobilization and stabilization of spinal segments as an adjunct to fusion for acute and chronic instabilities of the cervical and thoracic spine. It is also indicated to restore the integrity of the spinal column for a limited time period in patients with advanced stage tumors involving the cervical spine.
