“This is truly a sports medicine and performance complex like the world has never seen,” Vonda Wright, MD, medical director for the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex, told Healio.com/Orthopedics. “We have built this facility on four pillars: elite sports medicine, elite hockey, world-class research and a Sports Performance Center. The Sports Performance Center will optimize athletes of all ages, skill levels and sports, along with non-athletes and anyone merely seeking to improve their fitness. To apply out research and use the clinical and physical therapy settings here as well, we can build better athletes in hockey and all sports, make them total body-strong and break new ground in targeted injury prevention, surgery, rehabilitation, training and performance.”
