DeGen Medical recently announced the launch of the F1 MPS Modular Pedicle Screw System for the thoracolumbar spine.

The new system is the first to market the modular pedicle screw with cobalt-chrome alloy head, according to a company press release.

The F1 MPS system addresses a wide range of surgical options, preassembled or modular screws, straight or curved rods, and titanium or cobalt-chrome rods, and allows for intraoperative flexibility for bone grafting and screw placement, according to the release. Additionally, the screw thread combines the option for standard or cortical screw placement.

Daniel Williams, MD, performed the first two-level surgery in the country using the new system at First Health Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, N.C. Williams reported the system makes it easier to see structures, allows for less muscle damage and allows for faster recovery, according to the release.
