Stryker receives regulatory clearance for robotic arm-assisted THA application
LAS VEGAS — Stryker Orthopaedics announced during the American Academy of Orthopaedics Annual Meeting that it has received regulatory clearance of an advanced robotic arm-assisted total hip arthroplasty application for use with its Mako System.
The Mako System will be compatible with a surgeon’s choice of Stryker implant, including the Accolade II, Secur-Fit Advanced, Anato and Exeter femoral implants coupled with the Trident Acetabular System and the X3 polyethylene.
“Combining the Mako System’s proprietary robotic-arm technology with Stryker’s market-leading implants allows us to evolve the platform to enhance patient outcomes,” William J. Huffnagle, president of the reconstructive division at Stryker, said in a company press release. “This advancement reflects our conviction that this technology will transform joint-reconstruction surgery.”
