Smith & Nephew launches new soft-suture anchor

Smith & Nephew recently announced the launch of its new SUTUREFIX Ultra soft-suture anchor indicated for use in hip and shoulder labral repair.
The SUTUREFIX Ultra does not rely on bone quality for security and is designed to remove less bone than traditional anchors, according to a company press release.

To ensure proper anchor deployment, SUTUREFIX Ultra’s design sports a handle and safety button that gives surgeons an audible locking sound when deployment is complete.

The product is also preloaded with ULTRABRAID high-strength sutures in order to provide a strong suture with a low knot stack. Because the anchor is made of DURABRAID suture, no hard materials are left behind once it is implanted, according to the release.
