DePuy Synthes launches Gryphon Proknot hip and shoulder instability offering

DePuy Synthes Mitek Sports Medicine recently announced the launch of the new Gryphon Proknot Anchors for fixation of shoulder and hip instability.
As the first arthroscopic hybrid anchor solution to repair shoulder and hip instability, the Gryphon Proknot anchors are suitable for use in Bankart and SLAP lesion repair, capsular shift or capsulolabral shoulder reconstruction, and hip capsular and acetabular labral repairs, according to a company press release.
The anchor utilizes pre-tied knots and knotless devices — which the company purports are up to 64% smaller and 41% stronger than standard arthroscopic knots and knotless devices — and provides a secure knot in one-half hitch, allowing surgeons to add incremental tension at any time during the procedure.

Gryphon Proknot anchors are available in non-absorbable polyetheretherketone or DePuy Synthes’ absorbable Biocryl Rapide material, according to the release.

“Surgeons no longer have to choose between traditional or knotless anchors for instability repair,” Ian Lawson, worldwide president of Mitek Sports Medicine, said in the release.
