Gokaslan, Rao, Heggeness recognized by NASS for contributions to spine care

SAN FRANCISCO — The North American Spine Society announced the winners of awards  recognizing excellence in the field of spine during the society’s annual conference, here.

Ziya L. Gokaslan, MD, FACS, FAANS, received the Leon Wiltse Award, which recognizes excellence in leadership or clinical research in spine care.

Raj D. Rao, MD, received the David Selby Award, which recognizes contributions to the art and science of spine care through service to the North American Spine Society (NASS).

Michael H. Heggeness, MD, PhD, received the Henry Farfan Award, which recognizes outstanding contributions in spine-related basic science research.

All of the awards were named in honor of three founding members of NASS.
