Edge Orthopedics granted FDA clearance for plating systems

Edge Orthopedics recently announced it has received FDA 510(k) clearance for the VIEW Plating System and REDUCE Fracture Plating System.

Utilizing anatomic plates to support multiple indications within the mid-foot, the VIEW system employs a perimeter-loading design that focuses on areas where healing is most needed. The system’s design also permits a continuous view for the physician to observe the healing process, according to a company press release.

Offered in a variety of low-profile plate designs, the REDUCE system gives surgeons the ability to choose the plate and screw design that best corresponds to the patient.

Both systems utilize Edge’s BITE compression screws, as well as the same instrument tray and titanium alloy bone screws.

“By sterile packaging implants and offering one instrumentation tray for multiple product lines, it not only reduces the amount of trays that need to be sterilized and wrapped for a case, but it also provides each surgeon the opportunity to change implant needs at a moment’s notice,” Anna Kroll, chief operating officer of Edge, said in the press release.
