Smith & Nephew launches new plating system

Smith & Nephew has launched its new EVOS MINI Plating system for use in complex fractures of the long bones in arms and legs.
The EVOS MINI Plating System includes a variety of mini, flat plates and screw sizes to address fracture reduction and short-term fixation. The system also includes three different, color-coded, size modules that have up to eight low-profile plate geometries. It includes instrumentation for implementing the screw options for cortical, cancellous and osteopenic bone. The sizes go up to 80 mm and the screws offer variable-locking technology which allows placing a locking screw up to 15° off-axis.
The system also has a unique, stair-step design for its screw caddy that assures all screws loaded are the appropriate size, potentially reducing errors in central supply by eliminating the need to measure each screw, according to a company press release.
