EOS receives FDA clearance for sagittal balance, posture analysis software

EOS imaging announced it has received FDA 510(K) clearance for new software dedicated to sagittal balance and posture analysis.

The software, sterEOS 1.6, provides 3-D modeling of the spine and lower limbs based on scans taken by an EOS system, according to a company press release. The scans automatically calculate 100 clinical parameters relevant to diagnosis and surgical planning.

SterEOS 1.6 will allow for faster analysis of a patient’s skeletal balance and will help the surgeon maintain or restore that balance, according to the release.

The new system provides full-body images of patients in a standing or seated position, with both 2-D and 3-D options. The system will also provide less radiation exposure than typical digital radiology or a basic CT scan, according to the release.
