Medimaps Group announced recently a partnership with Hologic for the launch of the TBS iNsight software application.

Designed to improve the assessment of osteoporosis-related fracture risk, the TBS iNsight is a software appication that assesses patient bone texture in the form of the trabecular bone score.

This score, measured using dual energy X-ray absorptiometry images from a bone mineral densitometry scan, allows physicians to evaluate the results and better manage patients who have a high risk of osteoporotic fracture, according to a press release from Medimaps.

As per the agreement, Hologic will distribute Medimaps’ diagnostic tool throughout the United States and Canada.

“A significant body of literature … has demonstrated that TBS, when combined with hip and/or spine BMD and FRAX clinical factors, can help improve the prediction of future osteoporotic fracture risk in a clinically meaningful way,” Didier Hans, chairman and CEO of Medimaps Group, said in the press release.
