DSM has announced the launch of its new autologous cellular therapy development service.

The company plans to work directly with biotechnology and medical device companies to aid in their use of this type of therapy, which incorporates a patient’s own cells to promote healing, according to a company press release.

The first cell concentration device, developed by DSM and launched by DePuy Synthes Mitek Sports Medicine, is the PEAK Platelet Rich Plasma System.

This device is able to extract a high concentration of undamaged platelets from whole blood in approximately two and a half minutes, according to the release. Additionally, the device weighs only 4 pounds, allowing for ease of transport through hospitals or doctors’ offices.
