The American Association of Neurological Surgeons has announced that its affiliate, the Neurosurgery Research and Education Foundation, recently reached funding agreements with DePuy Synthes Spine and Medtronic in support of the Foundation’s post-residency clinical fellowship grant program.

The following programs were awarded fellowship grants for the 2014-2015 academic year: Cleveland Clinic for Spine Health; Duke University; Johns Hopkins University; Rush University Medical Center; Toronto Western Hospital (University Health Network); University of California, San Francisco; University of Miami; University of South Florida/University of Medical Service Association and University of Toronto.

“The NREF [Neurosurgery Research and Education Foundation] is grateful to our corporate sponsors who continue to help the NREF in its mission to ensure that tomorrow’s leaders in medicine receive cutting-edge training to expand their knowledge and improve patient care,” Regis W. Haid Jr., MD, FAANS, chair of the NREF Development Committee, said in a press release.

The NREF’s Educational Grants Committee, which comprises volunteer neurosurgeons, was established in 2009 to review and approve fellowship grant applications in an independent, unbiased manner, according to the release.
