Congress of Neurological Surgeons names new executive committee members-at-large

The Congress of Neurological Surgeons announced the election of Sepideh Amin-Hanjani, MD, FAANS, FACS, FAHA, and Praveen V. Mummaneni, MD, FAANS, as members-at-large to the Congress of Neurological Surgeons Executive Committee for a 2-year term.

Amin-Hanjani currently serves as vice chair of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS)/ Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS) Guidelines Committee and is a member of the CNS Portal Committee (Cerebrovascular). She is immediate past chair of the AANS/CNS Cerebrovascular Section. Amin-Hanjani is professor, residency program director and co-director of neurovascular surgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She is also associate editor for Neurosurgery and on the editorial board of Stroke, and has been an active member in many professional societies and organizations, including the Society of Neurological Surgeons, the American Heart Association, the Medical Advisory Board of the Brain Aneurysm Foundation, the American College of Surgeons and the AANS.

Mummaneni is a member of the CNS Portal Committee (Spine) and the CNS Development Committee. He currently serves as secretary of the AANS/CNS Section on Disorders of the Spine and Peripheral Nerves with past section positions, including Scientific Program and Annual Meeting chair. Currently a professor and vice-chairman of the University of California at San Francisco Department of Neurosurgery, Mummaneni was the first neurosurgeon to be awarded the Edgar Dawson Scholarship for the Scoliosis Research Society, as well as the Scoliosis Research Society’s European Traveling Fellowship Award. Mummaneni serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Neurosurgery: Spine and is the editor of several textbooks, including Spinal Deformity: A Guide to Surgical Planning and Management; Handbook of Minimally Invasive and Percutaneous Spine Surgery; Handbook of Spine Surgery; and Cervical Spine Surgery: Current Trends and Challenges.
