AlloSource receives patent for tissue cleaning, disinfecting system

AlloSource was awarded a patent for AlloTrue, its propriety tissue cleaning and disinfecting system.

According to a company press release, AlloTrue is a uses rotation, coupled with sonication to reduce bacteria. The technology exposes allografts to a variety of cleaning solutions inside a fully automated, closed, rotating canister. In addition to bacteria, AlloTrue removes the marrow and lipids that can be responsible for allograft discoloration. This is the sixth patent in a family of patents protecting AlloSource's AlloTrue process and method.

"Garnering not one but an entire group of patents surrounding the AlloTrue system has been a lengthy process but an important and highly valuable one, due to the unique and pioneering nature of AlloTrue," Thomas Cycyota, president and chief executive officer of AlloSource, stated in the release. "This exclusive method of cleaning transplantable tissues allows us to maximize each gift of life donated by generous tissue donors and their families. AlloTrue is also a testament to AlloSource’s commitment to quality and improvement."
