Harvard’s Wyss Institute and Charité announce partnership
The Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering at Harvard University and the University Hospital Charité in Berlin have announced a formal partnership that allows scientists from Charité to work with scientists in Wyss Institute, according to a press release.
The Wyss Institute will gain access to the Charité animal models, patient populations for clinical trials, Good Manufacturing Process-level cell culture and material processing facilities.
“I am especially excited about working as a team on new cell- and material- based therapies that have the potential to transform the way we treat traumatic limb injuries, bone fractures and more,” David Mooney, Wyss core faculty member, stated in a press release.
Charité is the 10th institution to collaborate with Wyss Institute, joining Boston Children’s Hospital, Tufts University, and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and others.
“Together we can deliver new technologies and therapies in the hands of doctors and patients much more quickly than if we operated alone, and that’s very exciting,” Georg Duda, director of the Charité Julius Wolff Institut, stated in the release.
