Corin Ltd. announced that the Orthopaedic Data Evaluation Panel, which independently assesses whether orthopaedic implants have reached certain survivorship benchmarks, recently reviewed available clinical data for and rated four hip prostheses that form the company’s hip continuum of care.

The Orthopaedic Data Evaluation Panel (ODEP) ratings, which relate to average number of years of follow-up, are 3A or 3B for greater than 97% survivorship at 3 years; 5A or 5B for greater than 95% survivorship at 5 years; 7A or 7B for greater than 93% survivorship at 7 years; and 10A, 10B or 10C for greater than 90% survivorship at 10 years. In the rating system, A equals strong evidence, B equals reasonable evidence and C equals weak evidence, according to the company press release.

The ratings from the ODEP Commission recognized that the clinical performance of the Corin hip continuum is in line with NICE guidelines for survivorship of total hip replacements. The ODEP ratings received were 10A for the cemented double-tapered, polished, collarless TaperFit total hip stem and 3A for three Corin hip replacement devices: the Trinity advanced bearing acetabular system, the MiniHip bone conserving hip replacement and the cementless MetaFix hip stem design.

“Corin places a great deal of importance on collaboration with key clinical institutions to deliver strong medical research programs that support the safe and effective use of Corin implants. Taking its responsibility for patient well being seriously means investing significantly in short-, medium- and long-term studies and the company supports registries both locally and globally as well as single, multicenter and international data collections,” Corin officials stated in the release.
