MedShape launches smaller version of ankle arthrodesis nail

MedShape Inc. announced the release of a 10-mm version of its DynaNail Ankle Arthrodesis Nail.

An alternative to external fixators for performing tibiotalocalcaneal arthrodesis procedures, the smaller DynaNail expands the use of the intramedullary nail to patients with narrow bone anatomies that require smaller fusion devices, according to a company press release.

Leveraging the shape memory properties of nickel titanium, the nail sustains compression across the joint on the level of an external fixator. Originally introduced with a 12-mm diameter, the 10-mm DynaNail is as a less invasive treatment option while still retaining sustained compressive power garnered from the internal nickel titanium element.
