Expanding Orthopedics Inc. announced the appointment of Hansen Yuan, MD, to the company’s board of directors.

According to a company press release, Yuan is a professor of orthopedic and neurological surgery at State University of New York and Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, N.Y. He has held numerous leadership positions in several spine societies and is a past president of the North American Spine Society. The author of numerous publications on spine pathologies and treatments, Yuan serves as editor-in-chief of the ISASS Online Journal and has advised several market leaders in the spine industry. He has also been extensively involved in product development with these organizations and through his own innovative inventions and entrepreneurial efforts.

“Dr. Yuan is a global key opinion leader in spine surgery with great engineering and technical skills. His extensive clinical and research experience will allow him to immediately add value to the company, both on product development and industry collaboration,” Mike Sherman, director at Expanding Orthopedics and partner at MB Venture Partners, stated in the release.
