Intelligent Implant Systems Inc. announced that the Active Bone Screw was cleared by the FDA for sale in the United States.

According to a company press release, the Active Bone Screw has a unique expanding thread allowing for up to 1 mm in expansion for implantation into bone during surgery.

“This addition to our product line will enable the surgeon to have a new option for additional fixation in a variety of orthopedic procedures, including fracture repair and fracture fixation,” Marc Richelsoph, president and chief executive officer of Intelligent Implant Systems, stated in the release.
