Biomet Spine announced that the FDA has issued clearance for the Solitaire-C Spacer System and the Gallery Laminoplasty System, the two new cervical system products released by the company.

According to Bill Messer, general manager of Biomet Spine, the Solitaire-C Cervical Spacer System has a large graft cavity, multiple footprint options and a titanium band, which wraps around the center exterior wall of the PEEK spacer to assist with accurate radiographic visualization. The inserter guide also provides clear visualization during screw-hole preparation and insertion, and flexible drivers and a secure screw locking mechanism assist with proper screw placement.

The Gallery Laminoplasty System is a three-hold, cobra-head plate available in buttress or standard design and in multiple plate sizes. Plating options combine with multiple self-tapping and self-drilling screws to offer surgeons a variety of implant options and an ergonomic screw inserter design incorporates an instant, secure connection between the screws and inserter. According to a company press release, Spin Tight Technology offers a simple to spin wheel mechanism on the screw inserter and allows the surgeon to simultaneously place pressure on the inserter and drive the screw with minimal effort.
