TransCorp Spine Inc. has patented a new spine system designed to help surgeons perform minimally invasive decompressions and other spine procedures, according to a company-issued press release.

“This is truly an important milestone for TransCorp Spine,” Chris Welch, CEO and President of TransCorp Spine, said in the release. “This patent recognizes the innovative and unique products that we are developing for spine surgery.”

The new spine system, called SpinePort, is a channel guide that surgeons use to create a 6-mm port for minimally invasive spine decompressions and other spine surgery. According to the release, the company plans to commercialize the system and present it at spine meetings this Fall.
