The FDA has issued clearance for Biomet Spine’s occipito-cervico-thoracic system, the Lineum OCT Spine System.

According to a company press release, the Lineum OCT Spine System includes translation screw technology, which offers 3 mm of medial/lateral translation for optimal screw placement, requires less rod manipulation, and easier rod introduction. The system also includes customizable construct options, an adjustable depth drill guide and new rod reducers.

“Commercialization of multi-axial screws changed the manner by which surgeons approached screw placement,” Bill Messler, general manager of Biomet Spine, stated in the press release. “We believe the translation screw will have a similar game changing impact on posterior OCT spine procedures. The combination of the translation screw, broader construct options, and new procedurally efficient instrumentation make the Lineum OCT System what we firmly believe to be a best in class OCT system.”
