The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office issued a fundamental patent for ISTO Technologies’ InQu Bone Graft Extender and Substitute.

Used primarily as an osteobiologic product in spinal fusion applications, InQu is a platform technology for tissue regeneration. InQu is manufactured and marketed as granules, pastes, putties and strips. According to a company press release, it has been used in more than 17,000 orthopedic and spinal procedures since its launch in 2008 and has received 510(k) clearances as a bone graft extender and substitute.

“This U.S. patent further protects and solidifies our leadership position in leveraging the properties of hyaluronic acid for orthopedic biologic applications,” Mitchell Seyedin, PhD, president and chief executive officer of ISTO Technologies, stated in the release.
