Orthofix International N.V. announced the appointment of Robert S. Vaters as its new president and chief executive officer, effective August 1. Alan Milinazzo, the company’s current president and chief executive officer will step down but remain on the board of directors.

“Since joining Orthofix as chief financial officer in 2008, Bob has delivered measurable business value in our key business drivers, proving himself a tireless worker and terrific leader through a series of increasingly challenging and successful assignments,” Jim Gero, chairman of the board of directors for Orthofix, stated in a company release.

Prior to joining Orthofix as executive vice president and chief financial officer in September 2008, Vaters served as general partner and co-founder of Med Opportunity Partners, a health care private equity firm, which he cofounded after serving as executive vice president, chief financial officer, and head of strategy for Inamed.
