Ortho-tag Inc. appoints Ken Laing as chief executive officer

Ortho-tag Inc. has announced the appointment of Ken Laing as chief execuive officer. According to a company press release, Laing will lead strategic initiatives to market the company’s smart orthopedic implants transcutaneous near field communication chips (TNFC) and biosensor technologies.

“Ortho-tag will provide cutting-edge technology advancements to the way surgeons monitor their patients, and will contribute to the future integration between smart implants and telemedicine,” Laing stated in the release.

According to the release, an orthotag provides a postoperative, non-invasive solution to obtaining patient information regarding medical implants and post-operative diagnostics in the surrounding joint and tissue environment. TNFC chips and biosensors that are embedded into implants provide information and accountability regarding medical devices. This includes manufacturing information about the implant, surgical and patient information.
