EFORT General Assembly elects new executive board members, national member society

COPENHAGEN — The General Assembly of the European Federation of National Associations of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (EFORT) announced the election of new executive board members at the 12th EFORT Congress 2011 held here.

Pierre Hoffmeyer, MD, was confirmed as the new president of EFORT. The General Assembly also elected Manuel Cassiano Neves, MD, of Portugal as EFORT’s new vice president, Per Kjaersgaard-Andersen, MD, of Denmark as the Secretary General and George Macheras, MD, of Greece as a new member at large. Additionally, Philippe Neyret, MD, PhD, of France was re-elected to a second term as member at large for EFORT. The new members will start their term of office on 1 January 2012 and will serve until 31 December 2013.

The EFORT General Assembly also voted to include the Association of Orthopaedics and Traumatologists of Montenegro as a new national member society. They also issued the Belarus Republic Scientific Medical Society of Trauma and Orthopedic Surgeons observer status within EFORT.
