EFORT demonstrates unique growth in muscular skeleton science, patient care initiatives

COPENHAGEN — The European Federation of National Associations of Orthopaedics and Traumatology opened their annual congress here with a look to the organization’s growth and patient care initiatives as it marks its 20th anniversary this year.

Tuesday night’s Opening Ceremony included a welcome from Per Kjaersgaard-Andersen, MD, chairman of the local organizing committee and Orthopaedics Today Europe chief medical editor.

European Federation of National Associations of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (EFORT) president Prof. Dr. Miklos Szendröi, of Hungary, told attendees of EFORT’s role in the harmonization of education in orthopaedics in Europe. He said that EFORT has played a key role in the movement to increase patient care initiatives and musculoskeletal science. He said the organization’s congresses and symposia have helped orthopaedic surgeons increase their training, facilitate the exchange of knowledge, and ultimately advanced the level of orthopaedic education throughout Europe.
