DePuy Mitek, Inc., today announced the launch of a new program for charity and an online video series on joint health featuring PGA Tour players Stewart Cink, Jim Furyk and Kenny Perry, according to a press release.

“Our association with the PGA Tour and Champions Tour has been very successful in educating patients on the importance of joint health, and now we're proud to do even more by helping the players and fans give something back to charity," Ian Lawson, worldwide president of DePuy Mitek, stated in the release.

This is the third season DePuy Mitek has been the exclusive Mobile Health and Fitness Provider of the PGA Tour and Champions Tour. The company sponsors state-of-the-art fitness trailers where Tour players can focus on pre-game and post-tournament workouts, exercise and physical therapy.

The sponsorship is part of an effort by DePuy Mitek to educate golfers and fans alike on the importance of keeping their knees healthy and free of pain, and to raise awareness of ORTHOVISC, a nonsurgical treatment for knee pain associated with osteoarthritis. ORTHOVISC is a knee injection that replaces missing joint fluid to help cushion, protect, and lubricate the knee for pain relief of up to six months, the company noted.

In addition to the fitness trailers, DePuy Mitek has exhibition booths at several PGA Tour events throughout the United States where fans obtain educational materials, participate in various contests and gain access to sports medicine specialists who are available to answer questions about specific joint health concerns and offer prevention and treatment strategies for keeping joints healthy.

This year the exhibition booths will feature the ORTHOVISC PGA Tour Player Charity Program, which kicked off in early March at the Honda Classic in Florida and is being conducted at nine PGA Tour tournaments this season. Fans who visit the booth can view information about an enrolled player's charity and then send him a personal "shout out" or text message via computer kiosk. The player with the most "shout outs" at the end of the season will be awarded $25,000 for his designated charity.

The player with the second most will get $15,000 and $10,000 will be awarded to the third place finisher, for a total of $50,000 awarded to three charity or non-profit organizations working on issues including those related to underprivileged youth, families in need, and wounded veterans. Stewart Cink, Jim Furyk and Kenny Perry are enrolled, in addition to 27 other PGA TOUR Players, according to the press release.
