Amedica Corporation announced that B. Sonny Bal, MD, MBA, JD, has joined its board of directors.

“As we enter our next stage of development and look forward to commercializing a new generation of products, having a forward-thinking industry leader like Sonny on the board of the company is invaluable to our organization,” Max Link, chairman of the board, stated in a company press release. “With Sonny’s expertise, Amedica is well positioned to continue bringing to market the transformational technologies that will revolutionize orthopedics and spine care in the future.”

Bal is an associate professor of orthopedic surgery at the University of Missouri, Columbia, as well as an adjunct professor of material sciences at the University of Missouri at Rolla. He received his medical degree from Cornell University and his MBA from Northwestern University. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.
