Aesculap launches Hydrolift Vertebral Body Replacement System

Aesculap Implant Systems LLC released the Hydrolift Vertebral Body Replacement System. The system provides surgeons with a bone preserving construct for treatment of burst fractures and tumor removal of the thoracolumbar spine. Accordig to a company press release, the Hydrolift Vetebral Boy Replacement System (VBR) offers the surgeon more flexibility and tactile feedback during expansion due to hydrostatic distraction and unique endplate design.

“The Hydrolift is an exciting addition to Aesculaps’ tumor/trauma product portfolio,” Chuck DiNardo, president of Aesculap, stated in the release. “The unique features of this device allow surgeons to provide a new level of patient care.”

The Hydrolift VBR is indicated for use in the thoracolumbar spine, T1 to L5, for partial or total replacement of a collapsed, damaged or unstable vertebral body due to tumor or trauma. The system is intended for use with supplemental spinal fixation systems such as the Aesculap S4, S4 Element and MACS TL systems.
