Orthopedics Today Hawaii 2012 returns to Maui

WAILEA, Hawaii — Orthopedics Today Hawaii 2012 kicked off with a traditional Hawaiian blessing and a full schedule of presentations on knee meniscus and ligaments, articular cartilage treatments and spinal topics in sports medicine. The day also included a special practice management session on real-life case presentations for private practice and hospital-employed physicians.
“The delivery of orthopedics is changing rapidly,” Douglas W. Jackson, MD, course chair of Orthopedics Today Hawaii 2012, said. “We have tried to address the salary and private practice issues that we are all facing or will face in the future.”
Interspersed throughout the meeting, attendees have the chance to interact with the faculty through question-and-answer sessions tallied and recorded by an audience response system. Through this system, the faculty can quiz the attendees about the data presented or ask them how they would treat presented cases.
“It is an important part of our meeting. It not only tabulates some meaningful results that will are used in our planning, but also be included in Orthopedics Today,” Jackson said.
