For our fifth annual meeting on the islands, Orthopedics Today Hawaii returns to Maui in 2012, the site of the first Hawaii meeting. The meeting is jointly sponsored by Orthopedics Today, the International Congress for Joint Reconstruction and Vindico Medical Education. Orthopedics Today Hawaii 2012 will be held January 15-18, 2012 at the Fairmont Kea Lani.
We concluded a very successful course in January with more than 400 attendees. This is a very dynamic, evolving educational experience and I am proud to be associated with the program that will be presented in January, Douglas W. Jackson, MD, course director for the meeting and Chief Medical Editor of Orthopedics Today, said.
The 2012 program will have more focused case-based presentations in sports medicine, arthroscopic surgery, total joint, trauma and spine. Additionally, the faculty will present medical debates throughout the meeting.

I have always found these exchanges to be the most informative. With this in mind, in 2012 there will be expanded use of case presentations, more use of our audience response technology, and time to listen to the concerns and knowledge the attendees bring to the course, Jackson said.
As in previous years at Orthopedics Today Hawaii meetings, attendees and faculty are invited to meet each afternoon for Banyan Tree Gatherings an opportunity to talk one-on-one with the faculty members and other attendees to discuss their presentations or get opinions on troublesome cases.
In addition, each afternoon will offer a different session to help round out attendee education. There will be sessions in practice management, marriage and stress and a newly introduced industry round table moderated by Giles R. Scuderi, MD.
As usual, a highlight of the course will be the considerable interaction between attendees and faculty, Jackson said. by Kristine Houck, MA, ELS
