INDIANAPOLIS — In this Healio video, Shalu Pal, OD, FAAO, FSLS, FBCLA, discusses key takeaways from a recent Contact Lens Institute report, which details how practitioners and their staff can help improve contact lens wear retention rates.

“When I think about dropout and ... this dilemma, I think about the overall satisfaction that our contact lens wearers have,” Pal, a CLI Visionary who practices in Toronto, said. “Those who have been wearing contact lenses less than 2 years have a little bit less dissatisfaction than those who have been wearing contact lenses for years.”

Staff involvement and understanding of topics like contact lens removal and care are critical to building lasting relationships with patients, she said.

“Our whole team is actually really important because they are the touchpoints that our patients have more with than they do with us,” Pal said. “They have more time with our staff.”
