Eye6 with Ivy, a new wearable vision aid with an interactive AI visual assistant for individuals with age-related macular degeneration and other retinal disorders, is now available, according to a press release from Eyedaptic.

“As we continue to push boundaries in visual assistive technology, the Eye6 with Ivy represents a culmination of our team’s dedication and expertise, and we are excited to introduce this advanced, wearable vision aid to eye care specialists and their patients,” Jay Cormier, Eyedaptic’s CEO and founder, said in the release.

The Eye6 includes the same vision-enhancing features as the Eye5, but now provides an AI visual assistant, Ivy, which is fluent in 99 languages, the release stated. The glasses also feature high-definition 1,080 pixel resolution micro-displays and can be remotely upgradable on the Eye5 platform through a monthly subscription.

“The implementation and integration of AI in visual assistive devices is truly groundbreaking,” Mitul Mehta, MD, the company’s chief medical officer, said in the release. “With the Eye6, individuals with vision impairments now have a visual assistant to help them do everyday tasks and activities that weren’t possible before. They can ask Ivy to read a page to them or describe a room. With Ivy, the possibilities are endless, allowing individuals to remain independent and have a better quality of life.”
