Bausch + Lomb announced the U.S. launch of Zenlens Echo, a non-prosthetic custom scleral contact lens technology designed for a range of fit needs, including patients with advanced ocular conditions such as corneal degeneration.

“Fitting patients who have advanced ocular conditions can be extremely complex,” Jason Jedlicka, OD, associate professor and director of the Cornea and Contact Lens Service at Indiana University School of Optometry, said in a Bausch+ Lomb press release. “Zenlens Echo simplifies the process. Having the ability to further customize my patients’ lens fits and achieve great outcomes without the high cost of a freeform design or high-end equipment fills an important need in my practice.”

According to the release, Zenlens Echo can be used with technology already available in most practices, including a slit lamp, OCT scanning, profilometry or a Bi-Elevation fitting set, with no requirement for additional training or certification.

“Echo builds on our Zenlens specialty lens brand, providing eye care professionals with an additional level of customization for patients with advanced needs who require more specificity in their lens fitting,” Yang Yang, president of global vision care at Bausch + Lomb, said in the release.
