Visionix, 20/20NOW team up to launch tele-optometry program

NEW YORK — Visionix and 20/20NOW debuted a new tele-optometry program at Vision Expo East that aims to expand affordable access to comprehensive eye exams.
“For multi-location practices with satellite locations or those opening an additional location that have limited coverage of only a couple of days per week, tele-optometry can be a real game-changer,” Noelle Tchang, OD, director of professional services at 20/20NOW, said in a Visionix press release. “Some offices are backed up 4 to 6 months due to the limited coverage, and in those cases, tele-optometry can really help clear up the backlog and bring that revenue forward, but more importantly, give those patients immediate access to care.”
She added, “If a doctor wants to begin to pare down their clinic days, but provide services remotely to those interested, they can utilize Visionix equipment and the 20/20Now platform to provide uninterrupted services.”
According to the release, the companies announced the alliance in November 2023. 20/20NOW’s eye exam software is currently available in more than 30 states, and the company employs a team of remote optometrists to assess test results and conduct clinical reviews.
“Tele-optometry is not for everyone,” Matt Vulich, vice president of national accounts at Visionix Americas, said in the release. “However, for doctors and business owners considering a different business model to serve more patients, and especially if they have multiple locations, we have a team of experts on our side to navigate it in detail.”
