The third annual Twin Cities Ocular Surface Disease Symposium will be hosted Oct. 21 and 22 in Minneapolis and will include 12 hours of CE credit for both optometrists and ophthalmologists.

Lectures, workshops and interactive programs will be led by faculty experts, including Ahmad Fahmy, OD FAAO, Laura M. Periman, MD, Walter Whitley, OD, MBA, FAAO, Jacob Lang, OD, FAAO, Hardeep Kataria, OD, FAAO and Joseph Allen, OD, FAAO, event organizers announced in a press release.

One of the key topics the program will discuss is managing patients who do not improve after baseline therapy. Two interactive workshops will focus on in-office diagnosis and treatment using several technologies. These workshops will provide hands-on experience for attendees to learn proper technique for eyelid warming, expression and debridement; amnionic membrane insertion and removal; corneal sensitivity testing; Demodex identification; intranasal neurostimulation; and mechanical [meibomian gland] expression.

Other key topics include pipeline treatments, the limbal stem cell, regenerative approaches, how to talk to patients, implementing in-office treatments, refractory disease and nutrition.
