VIDEO: ‘Targeted, focused’ workup for anterior uveitis can identify underlying cause

Fact checked byHeather Biele

Bisant A. Labib, OD, FAAO, Dipl(CEC), associate professor at Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University, discusses her presentation at Academy 2022 on streamlining a workup for anterior uveitis in this video interview

According to Labib, anterior uveitis can be a manifestation of a variety of systemic conditions, and ocular findings from a comprehensive examination can point providers toward a specific etiology.

“It was thought that anterior uveitis was a predominantly idiopathic condition, but now more and more research has indicated that if you do a targeted and focused workup, you can actually identify an underlying cause in most cases,” Labib said.
