BARCELONA, Spain — In this Healio Video Perspective from the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons meeting, Ashvin Agarwal, MD, speaks about a surgical technique for the management of traumatic iridodialysis.

“Saving the iris in this scenario becomes an extremely important and integral part of saving the refractive outcome for the patient,” he said.

In these cases, Agarwal uses a twofold technique that consists of a hang-back technique to anchor the iris root to the sclera followed by pupilloplasty.

He also offered advice on how to prevent complications and deal with the most difficult stages of the procedure with the use of a trocar-assisted method.
