FRANKFURT, Germany — In this Healio Video Perspective from the ESCRS winter meeting, Gerd Auffarth, MD, PhD, presents his early results with the new Tecnis PureSee IOL, which was recently launched by Johnson & Johnson.

PureSee is a new nondiffractive extended depth of focus (EDOF) lens, a further development in the field, which provides uninterrupted high-quality vision with no side effects. It takes 100% of the light coming through and diverts it to an elongated focus, with results that are near those of trifocal lenses and better than some of the other EDOF and monofocal plus IOLs, according to Auffarth.

“We have experience now with around 20 lenses that we have implanted. The results are superb,” he said.

He expects that this new lens will be a competitor in the premium IOL range, well suited for all kinds of patients, possibly including post-refractive surgery eyes.
