WAILEA, Hawaii — In this Healio Video Perspective from Hawaiian Eye 2024, Kendall E. Donaldson, MD, MS, discusses current trends in anesthesia for cataract surgery.

“We know that there will be a 30% shortage in the anesthesia teams, as far as anesthesiologists and CRNAs, over the next 10 years. That’s a shortage of over 12,000 practitioners,” she said.

She also discusses the use of anesthesia with less invasive cataract surgery and in-office surgery.
