VIENNA — In this Healio Video Perspective, Nadiia Ulianova, MD, head of the department of post-traumatic eye pathology at Filatov Institute of Eye Diseases and Tissue Therapy in Odesa, Ukraine, speaks about combat ocular trauma.

“We are faced with big challenges. We have a lot of patients with ocular trauma, severe lesions from anterior to posterior pole of the eyeball, and this severe damage needs surgery from pole to pole,” she said at the ESCRS meeting.

She focuses on the use of an intraoperative temporary keratoprosthesis to deal with these complex cases that need urgent vitreoretinal surgery but have a clouded cornea.
