VIDEO: Encapsulated cell therapy shows efficacy in treatment of macular telangiectasia
Key takeaways:
- A novel encapsulated cell therapy shows efficacy in the treatment of macular telangiectasia.
- This could provide long-term treatment of macular telangiectasia and potentially other diseases.
SAN DIEGO — In this Healio Video Perspective from Eyecelerator@ASCRS, Jim Mazzo and Rich Small, CEO of Neurotech Pharmaceuticals, present a novel encapsulated cell therapy for long-term treatment of macular telangiectasia.
Phase 3 studies have shown positive results. Explantation after more than a decade has shown that the device is intact, and cells are viable and healthy.
“In my 44 years, this is one of the most novel technologies I have ever seen,” Mazzo said.
