NEW YORK — In a presentation at OSN New York, Sarah H. Van Tassel, MD, provides insight on effectively performing goniotomy and discusses when it is most appropriate to use.

According to Van Tassel, goniotomy can be performed across a wide variety of glaucoma severities and subtypes and can also be performed on patients with cataracts.

“You can really do goniotomy for almost anyone that has a visually significant cataract, and you can also do it for a lot of other patients,” she said. “In my practice, I’m almost always combining with cataract surgery.”
