NEW ORLEANS — The Renal Physicians Association presented awards at its annual meeting here in recognition of expertise in nephrology practice and service to the organization.
Stacey Loomis from Midwest Nephrology in Saint Peters, Missouri, was presented with the 2023 Distinguished Practice Administrator Award for facilitating efforts in all aspects of practice management, including day-to-day operations, financial reporting, electronic health record conversion and the introduction of new service lines and revenue streams at Midwest Nephrology.
According to an RPA press release, Loomis serves on the RPA education and practice management committees.
Stephen Z. Fadem, MD, FACP, FASN, received the 2023 Distinguished Nephrology Service Award for his advocacy for the kidney community. Fadem began his career in nephrology in 1978 and has been an active member of the RPA community, serving on the RPA Board of Directors and as a member of the government affairs and health care payment committees. Fadem is former vice president of the board of directors and chair of the medical advisory board of the American Association of Kidney Patients. He has participated in the Forum of ESRD Networks and was a member of the CMS Clinical Performance Measures Committee.
Fadem’s areas of expertise include dialysis management, preventive nephrology, vascular calcification, anemia, patient education and information systems.
G. Jeffrey Milan, MD, received the 2023 Outstanding Advocate of the Year Award. Milan, of Nephrology Associates in Dover, Delaware, is an active member of the RPA advocacy community. He is a member of the board of directors for the RPA political action committee, a frequent Capitol Hill Day participant and was the most active user of the RPA legislative action center in 2022.
Since the inauguration of the awards program in 2005, more than 60 recipients have been recognized during the RPA Annual Meeting.
