In this video, Diane Havlir, MD, provides insight into what she and other conference attendees can look forward to at this year’s meeting.
“CROI promises to be a spectacular meeting this year with new data on HIV, COVID and mpox,” said Havlir, a University of California San Francisco professor, director of the AIDS Institute, and co-chair of the clinical section of the Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections. “And we are so excited to be back together after our hiatus of 3 years of virtual meetings.”
Some highlights Havlir says attendees can look forward to are the opening session where Alan S. Perelson, PhD, will discuss work on HIV viral dynamics, Kevin M. De Cock, MD, will discuss how science in generated with a human rights approach and Yvette Raphael, will discuss women’s reproductive rights and health decision-making.
Other presentations this week will focus on Doxy-PEP, the Mosaico trial — a phase 3 HIV vaccine trial — and new data on drugs for mild COVID-19 that will prevent progression to severe disease.
“The biggest challenge at CROI this year will be deciding what presentation to attend,” Havlir said. “So, welcome to CROI 2023.”
