Ilene C. Wetiz, MD, professor of clinical medicine at the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California, discusses the selected treatment and the results of the case:

"So, this patient was started initially on a short-acting C5 inhibitor and then transitioned to a long-acting C5 inhibitor. And you can see here are her labs, and you could follow over time. After the four initial doses, you could see her hemoglobin is up to 14.1. Her platelets are normal.

Her bilirubin has come down. Her LDH has normalized, and her ALT has also improved. And the patient stated that her urine was clear for the first time in years, and she could breathe again."
